Eight inches square is the kind of footprint that fits between a door frame and a wall, or in the sliver beside a washing machine. Going almost six feet up recovers the storage that footprint gives away. Two closed cabinets bracket five open compartments, and a drawer near the middle catches the small items that get lost on a shelf.
