Hanging files only work if the drawer is built for them, which is why so many decorative storage units end up holding folders lying flat in a pile. Both drawers here are sized for A4 and letter documents standing upright in a hanging frame, which is the arrangement where you can flick through the tabs rather than lifting everything out to find one thing. The cabinet measures 17.7 in wide by 15.7 in deep and stands 26.6 in tall, which is desk height. That is deliberate, because a file cabinet at desk height doubles as an end-of-desk return, giving you a surface for a printer or a lamp rather than being a box you look down at. The top carries up to 50 lb and the overall static capacity is 110 lb. At 46.6 lb assembled in particleboard, this is a solid piece rather than a lightweight one, and the weight is what keeps it from tipping forward when a loaded drawer is pulled fully out. The rustic walnut finish gives it the look of furniture rather than office equipment.
