A lock is the reason to choose this cabinet over an open shelf, and in a home office it matters more than people expect. Tax records, passports, medical paperwork, and the documents you would rather not explain to a house guest all need somewhere that closes properly, and a drawer that locks is the simplest version of that. The drawers take both letter and legal documents, which is a wider format than most home filing units accommodate, and each drawer carries up to 33 lb. Total static capacity across the cabinet is 132.3 lb. The body measures 17.7 in wide by 14.4 in deep and stands 23.2 in tall, a compact footprint that slides under most desks rather than requiring floor of its own. Construction is steel with particleboard, and the assembled cabinet weighs 39.9 lb. Steel is what allows a locking mechanism to be worth having, since a lock on a thin panel cabinet secures nothing. The cloud white and matte white finish keeps it from looking like office furniture in a domestic room.
