No tools needed, the soft kennel has 2 red straps on both sides. Just pull them outwards at the same time, the frame will easily expand. Or you can grab a strap and lift the whole crate upwards, it will be instantly set up as well. After use, rotate its side knob, then it will quickly get folded in a small size.
