Comfort on a floor seat is decided by three things, and this one names all three. The first is angle: fourteen positions run from bolt upright through to lying flat, each locking where it is set, which covers concentrating at a screen, easing back between rounds and stretching out to rest without ever having to hold a posture by muscle. The second is what carries the weight. A sturdy steel frame runs through the body, rated to 264 lbs, and it is positioned to support the waist specifically, because that is where an unsupported soft seat folds and takes the spine with it. The third is heat. Cotton and linen face the whole sofa, and that weave passes air rather than sealing it in, so a long stretch does not finish with a damp back the way a coated fabric leaves it. Padding is high resilience sponge, which is a different grade from ordinary foam: it recovers between sessions instead of compressing into a permanent hollow where the body always sits. The backrest is ergonomically shaped to follow the spine and relieve the fatigue that accumulates through a long sitting. Opened out the sofa measures 42 by 21 by 4 in, low and flat against the floor, and folding it makes it stand aside in a study, bedroom, living room or office. At 9.5 lbs it is genuinely portable.
