Glass on three sides turns this 50-inch insert into a viewing box rather than a picture frame, so the 12 flame colors read from the side of the room as well as straight on. The recommended opening is 50.2 inches wide by 8.7 deep by 17.5 high, while the unit itself measures 50 by 7.8 by 17.3 inches, which lets it sit recessed, wall-mounted or freestanding. Output is 5000 BTU on 750 or 1500 watts for around 400 square feet, with a thermostat from 62 to 82 degrees Fahrenheit. The remote works up to 20 feet away and a 6-foot cord runs from the unit. Five brightness levels adjust the flame, which operates with the heater off for year-round use.
